Yanolja Cloud Solution Brings Paperless Aadhaar Verification to Hotels in India

Hotels can now verify guests with Aadhaar in seconds, at the front desk or online before arrival, without collecting photocopies of ID cards.
Yanolja Cloud Solution (YCS), one of the world’s leading hospitality software company, has been registered by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as an Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE) under the Aadhaar Act, 2016. In simple terms, YCS can now verify a guest's Aadhaar the way UIDAI approves, with the guest's consent. To the best of our knowledge, YCS is the first hotel property management software (PMS) provider in India to receive this registration.
For hotels, this means guest ID checks without the photocopy. The guest shares a verified Aadhaar credential from their phone, the verified details reach the hotel's system, and nobody has to keep a copy of an ID card.
Hotels get two ways to verify guests, and both are compliant:
At the front desk: new with this registration. The guest scans a QR code with the Aadhaar App, confirms with a quick face check on their phone and chooses what to share. It takes seconds.
Online, before arrival: live today. Guests verify their Aadhaar through DigiLocker in the YCS AI Concierge guest portal as part of pre-arrival check-in, so the ID check is done before they reach the desk. More than 1 lakh (100,000) check-ins have already been completed this way.
DigiLocker is the Government of India's digital document wallet, run by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and documents shared through it are treated at par with the original under Rule 9A of the Digital Locker rules. The front desk method uses UIDAI's "offline verification". That does not mean the guest has to be offline. It means the check does not connect to UIDAI's central database: the guest's details are already digitally signed by UIDAI and are verified on the spot. The guest's consent is needed every time, and with the Aadhaar App, the hotel never receives the full Aadhaar number.
The timing matters for Indian hospitality. On 30 April 2026, UIDAI recognised Aadhaar Verifiable Credentials shared through the Aadhaar App as a legally valid way to establish identity. On 12 June 2026, FHRAI advised member hotels to adopt app-based Aadhaar verification at check-in. By August 2026, the Aadhaar App had crossed 5 crore downloads and more than 200 organisations had registered as OVSEs. Hotels still have to verify every guest, but fewer photocopies and more consent-based digital checks are clearly the way forward.
The benefits for hotels are practical: faster check-ins at busy hours, less paperwork at the front desk, fewer errors from typing guest details by hand, and no files of ID photocopies to store and protect. For guests, arrival is quicker and more private. DigiLocker verification is already live in YCS online check-in, with more than 1 lakh (100,000) check-ins completed so far, and YCS is now adding front desk verification through the Aadhaar App, in line with UIDAI rules on consent, data use, and storage.
"Check-in is the first real moment of a stay, and in India it is still slowed down by photocopies of ID cards. Being registered by UIDAI lets us work on a faster and more private way to do it, inside the tools our hotels already use every day. We are proud to be recognised by a national authority like UIDAI and to contribute to India's journey towards a more digital, paperless future," said Aeijaz Sodawala, CEO, YCS.
